Update: I started this series a long time ago and much of the information isn’t relevant or helpful anymore. It’s just here now for posterity.
I’ve had a lot of help getting where I am, but there are still many more things I wish I’d known starting out. I don’t consider myself an expert. However, in keeping with the idea that one should pay it forward, I’ve decided to start sharing some of my experiences. What worked, what didn’t work, where I’ve experienced little triumphs and where I’ve crashed and burned.
I won’t be concentrating on the craft of writing in this series–at least not much–but will explain the things I’ve done to build a platform, find readers, promote my novels, obtain book blurbs, market myself, and forge a career while jostling deadlines. If any of this ends up being useful to you, I hope you’ll drop me a line and let me know. In the meantime, this post will be the mother ship, if you will, for the series.
Without further ado, I introduce you to:
WOW! Thanks so much for this! I’m debuting in December and I feel totally lost. I’ll be reading your posts with a pen and notebook handy. 🙂
Just remember, Amanda, I’m still a novice and fumbling my way through this.
I am dying to read your novel. I have heard awesome reviews, and am excited for your second novel!
Here is a link to my blog, where I encouraged others to sign up for your mailing list!
